Morning Suns

Yes, the venue was sub-par, but the location of the hotel was to die for. With my room facing the glorious sunrise - I had always preferred sunrise to sunset - I was treated to brilliant spectacle on each of the morning I was in Penang.

If not for the flags and manifesto lining the beachfront - the General Election was due in a week's time - I would have happily enjoy a morning walk in front of the hotel. But, maybe next time ….

Oh! The Weather

It had been raining without fail every afternoon for the last could of weeks and from what I heard, it would continue on until the end of the month. Wanting to confirm that rumour I asked Siri what the weather going to the like for the rest of the week. And Siri duly obliged. It must be true. As Siri said so .....

Squarespace Note

While browsing the RSS feed, I came across this new app. It was released by my blog engine, Squarespace, and looking at it closely, it was a pretty handy app to draft your entry. It was called Squarespace Note.

Previously, I have been using a different app called Day One. The beauty about hat app was it syncs through DropBox onto the iOS and the Mac app. I can draft it on the desktop and it would sync across automatically and appear on the iPhone or the iPad.

So far, it would get uploaded as a draft entry. And you could then put up the photos, and other changes from either the website, or the main Squarespace app before getting it published.

So, let us see how it worked ......

Worth the Update?

Updated to iOS 6 in the early hours of today. And as expected, some of the old apps may not work. In fact, the main app unused for blogging and putting my thoughts together - Day One - crashes completely. There was an update later in the afternoon, but that too crashed. No joy!

But I was sure a path will come along soon for all the apps.

My iPhone 4S did feel significantly faster. Everything seems to zip along very quickly. The Facebook integration was particularly handy. My RSS program worked OK, as well as my SquareSpace app. The apps which tended to crash were the ones relying on iCloud integration.

The camera app worked fine. I have yet to try the panorama feature, but the samples I've seen on the Internet looked impressive.

To be honest, I have always been an early adopter when it comes to updates and software on my iDevices. Yes, it has it problems, but eventually things sort themselves out. Apart from the fact that I was not able to update my iMac to Lion since the P1 software - the main Internet source for my study in Gombak - is not compatible with the new OS. P1 never thought that their Mac user were significant enough to make the investment. Shane on them.

I spent the rest of the afternoon waiting for update downloads for the apps. But on the whole, the extra speed alone was worth the update.

The New Layout

It was the other way around. After asking around, most of my friends were not keen on the new Facebook layout. Most people felt that the new layout made their details too opened. I kinda agree with them and at the beginning decided against changing.

The listing of links were much more organisedSo were the album displayHowever, when i saw how the new layout looked on my iPhone, I soon changed my mind. It looked neat and since I tended to put up plenty of links, all the entries were put down chronologically. The new layout made everything looked more visible and clean.

The entries were arranged chronologicallyAnd navigating through them was super easyShame that the iPad version has yet to adapt the new setup. I was sure it would be long before an update arrive.
