We got 3G!

Finally, the Celcom coverage at my Park City clinic had improved. It used to be alone. Virtually no signal making contacting me from Subang when I run clinic there a pain.

After 3 years, it looked like the problem was finally rectified. Good 3G receptions everywhere. No more relying on the hospital Internet for Facebook etc. Some space to do personal stuff.

That Was Quick!

Was at a Celcom branch yesterday to settle my bill - yes, I activated data roaming during my recent trips! - and i started to test the LTE speed in the branch!

Holy cow! This one was fast! It soon slow down the moment I stepped out of the store. It was not helped by the fact that there was a Maxis branch right opposite .....

Big Minus

I love my Monday and Wednesday mornings drive to Park City. A welcomed change from the hustle and bustle of Subang. Things appeared pretty cool over there. Nice scenery. And nice place to chill at the mess.

But the main drawback was the cellphone coverage. They had been abysmal. For all three telcos - trust me, I had SIMs for all three!

My main phone was still on Celcom network. In the last few visits it had failed me big time. Maxis used to be great. I could even get LTE in my clinic room. Lately, it was down to EDGE if I was lucky.

This morning, there was no signal on Celcom. I had to entertain plenty of missed calls the moment the signals kicked in. Sigh!

The hospital management better look into this as the main method of contacting us were still through our cellphones.

Great Speed

Great LTE speed all over the hotel. All on the iPhone, the Nexus and Anita's iPad. All on Celcom, but the speed on Maxis was more on the HSPDA side.

The hotel did come with fast free Internet. On last test, it rates at around 5Mbit which was not too shabby. But clearly the mobile speed won hands down. But I wasn't complaining.

4G FTW!

Not sure what had happened over the weekend, but my Nexus 7 - which was recently updates to Kit Kat - had been registering 4G connection on Celcom. I had to upgrade my SIM on the iPhone for LTE connection, but I didn't bother doing anything for the Nexus tablet.

It had only started doing so from this morning. So, I assumed that there had been an upgrade over the weekend. I wasn't complaining. It was just that I was pleasantly surprised. And yes, the connection was about 20 Mbit - which was slower than Maxis at SJMC - but it was noticeably faster.

No Celcom LTE yet at Taman Setia, so I had to make do with HSDPA and WiFi at home. Fast enough but could be slow at times inside my bedroom.

At work, although there were WiFi available for staff members, speed could be found wanting during peak clinic hours. The LTE was definitely welcomed to do quick browsing in between my clinic patients.
