Kites. Everywhere.

On my way back from ParkCity to Subang last Wednesday, I stopped by Bangsar Shopping Centre to do a bit groceries and stumbled into these colourful kites adorning the main foyer. Apparently for the week - which I suspect coincided with the international school break - the centre was organising a kite exhibit. All the way from building, painting and flying them in the end. There were hundreds of them already on display for a competition ending this weekend.

Quite interested in seeing what would unfold this weekend. Idlan especially is fond of kites.

Long Sunday

It certainly had been a long day. After sending my Mum to the airport, I went straight for the morning ward round, having breakfast after that before returning to the ward to check on some results.

Next order of business was to join Anita and the boys at Kidzania. Sunday. Not a good day for such activity even when the boys were already queuing for their tickets before 10 in the morning. That tool is well after lunch, and finally the boys relented to go home.

We had some take-outs at The Curve, and then went to the apartment as our maid had been there all morning cleaning the place. I would be spending a couple of nights there as Anita and the boys would be going to limit next week during their school break. Unfortunately I had a couple of calls to so and had to be left behind.

Tired from being up since 3 in the morning, I had a long afternoon nap at the apartment while the boys played around. They were too tired for the pools however and spent the time watching TV. And that was fine with Anita.

I had a matter to attend in the ward when I finally woke up and by the time I was done at Subang, it was already 8 pm. A quick dinner and then football. I was dozing off during the match. United managed to restore their 15 points gap while City was at Wembley playing Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. It could have easily been us playing City If not for the complacency against Chelsea in the earlier round ...

So, I need to catch up on some rest before doing my clinic in ParkCity tomorrow morning. Good night!

Simmering Down

Idlan's fever abated overnight and he was able to get a peaceful sleep. It was horrible the evening before, him waking up almost every hour. Irfan was in school yesterday, but when I reached home yesterday, he was asleep on the couch. That nap lasted about 3 hours, clearly still recovering.

Anita also felt listless, as was I last night. I had a slight temperature when I went to bed, but felt better this morning. The sore throat was still around, but after some gargle and paracetamol, I left for Subang, a bit later than usual.

I was at ParkCity when I was drafting this entry, really not in the mood to do much else. No referrals or patient in clinic this morning, so, I just chilled out. I would probably leave early to get to the bank, and have an early lunch somewhere in Bangsar.

I called home to check on Idlan. He was already up having a shower. Slight temperature but he was a lot more active. Hopefully he things would settle down soon. At least it happened this week as I was due to fly to Kyoto next Wednesday for a conference .....

Open and Closed

The Golf Club we go to for Idlan's swimming lesson will host the Malaysian Open next weekend, and it looked like the preparations were well on the way. Next weekend's lesson would also be cancelled for the event.

Stands were being erected, generators and TV cables been installed, new tents also materialised, with the sponsor's colour. The whole place appeared to have taken a different tone with hectic workers and supervisors everywhere.

According to one of the friendly staffs there, the whole place would be taken over by the tournament. All the facilities and events suspended from the beginning of the week with players coming over to do practice rounds and have a feel of the course. It would be one of the main highlight of their calendar. It was ashamed that Tiger Woods won't be coming ..... They all wanted Woods.

Sure looked like the club was working overtime with the golf course being manicured for the tournament. That would also meant that they would be swimming at the apartment next weekend.

Sunday Lunch

Sundays are usually time that I Gert to spent with Anita and the family. But the day usually starts with a ward round first thing in the morning. The boys would usually still be asleep when I left. But last Sunday, they woke up early. They planned to join up with their buddies for a swim, and they started at ten in the morning. In the bright sunshine.

I went to join them in time for lunch after my rounds. They just left the pool then, with Anita trying to sort them out. Then it was time for lunch, with the parents of their buddies, who were members of the club - Kelab Darul Ehsan in Ampang.

The lunch at the cafe there was not that bad. We decided against the buffet - which was rather limited, and ordered from the menu instead.

The boys actually discovered that if they were to join a common network, they could turn their favourite game - Mine craft - they could enter each others world. A kind of a LAN party! The turned the cafe into a riot when they were playing. Irfan, Idlan and a couple other buddies roaming around. Noisy lot.

After lunch, the next activity for them was to feed the fish at the pond at the club. Another riot! They looked drained by the time we left close to tea time.
