Bukit Bintang

I was on call today, but usually if I have a Saturday afternoon to myself, I could be found heading around Pavilion and Bukit Bintang for drinks or just good all round shopping. With the occasional stop at Low Yat of course for good measure.

The sale was like constantly going ...The selfie gene is definitely strong in this familyIn the last week, Bukit Bintang had been making headlines. First came the news of the sinkhole around the MRT building site near Pudu. Next came the controversial statement from the Federal Territory Minister banning soup kitchen in City Centre.

Wonder how those events could've changed my Saturday afternoon plans as far as Bukit Bintang was concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if it were to become a centre for protests. Certainly there were a few unhappy campers there. Certainly the MRT work had changed the landscape at the area somehow. It wasn't that pleasant to walk around Bukit Bintang at the moment. And then there was the traffic. Nightmare.

On that note, I would just like to post a few photos from when I took a walk around Pavilion and Low Yat last weekend just before puasa started. Might have to wait until after Ramadan before I venture around there again.

Bazaar Time

I made no qualms that one of the attraction of Ramadan was the food. I ended up probably eating more than usual although I was meant to be fasting. One of the main culprit was the Ramadan Bazaar. And they cropped up everywhere.

On the first day of Ramadan - I was on leave that day, I visited a bazaar at Taman Melawati, which I frequently did every year. It was a smaller affair this year even compared to the scaled down edition of last year. Disappointing choice, although the essentials were still there.

It looked ugly, but tasted good! And of course the drinksWe grabbed the usual murtabak and drinks among others. Had a quick walk around. All looked good although they often tasted not as nice. We tended to find that out the hard way.

I might not be able to enjoy the bazaar as much as I did in the previous years, due to work schedule. Maybe that's the reason the bazaar had lost its charm. ‎

Late Start

I tried to be early for everything. But I failed miserably this morning. It was really busy and I was hassled left and right. I ended up only able to start my Park City clinic after 11.30. I did check earlier if there were any patients. Unfortunately there was. So, I had to come over, and it was after a quick stop at Ara Damansara. It had been one of those day.

Finally sat down in clinic and now the patient was late. Time to blog I guess as I was too tired to do anything else. Added to this was the fact that I have a meeting after my afternoon clinic today.

Looked like I would be hanging around at the hospital for berbuka.

Calling it the Night

On calls on Monday had always been a busy shift but yesterday was extraordinary. Not because it was Ramadan, it was the sheer number of admissions. Dengue being the main culprit.

I only managed to get bed at 3 last night, waking up early to start the morning rounds, with a couple of new admissions to see. Then came the morning clinic. Added to that the Day Care. I ended up doing the afternoon rounds early in order to get out of the hospital early for berbuka.

Unfortunately, the drive home took one and a half hour. Thank God I left early, not being able to see an admission at Ara Damansara. That case would have to wait until tomorrow I was afraid.

That was Early

Ramadan was due to start on Sunday, a good couple of days from today. As usual, being Friday evening, we went out for dinner. A quick check on Waze showed that the city centre was packed tonight. Therefore, we decided to go to The Curve.

Took us a good 45 minutes to get there with multiple crawl along NKVE and getting into the car park.

After dinner, we walked towards the lobby and we were surprised that all the stalls were already up. Everything was geared up for Eid. A month early.

I remembered in the years past, the decor usually went up during the first week of Ramadan. We were not expecting the stalls to go up. The shops mainly sold wears for Eid. Clothing and accessories.

Rather more expensive than I thought.

The boys had already got their clothes sorted out. Anita already got hers. I was the only one left out, so we went for a quick look for mine. Nothing caught my fancy though. The colours we wanted were out of stock. One of the shop owner promised to call Anita when the new stock arrives.

It was a pleasant walk in the end. Now, we just reached home and Irfan was in a rather bad mood. He was tired maybe. They had just finished their exams for the Quran class today. ‎
