The Wait

We arrived at the hospital we'll before 7.30, got ourselves registered and was waiting for his turn to be called in. His cousin, Adam was second on the list, and he was still waiting for his turn. I suspect Idlan would be called about an hour after.

The only complaint he had was he was hungry. The last meal he had was at around 10 last night. He has yet to have anything to drink since. Just occupying himself on the iPad. Mumbling to himself after the weighing and observation.

So, Anita was outside and I was waiting with Idlan at the waiting area. I would call her in soon as soon as I settled the paperwork with the nurses.

New Name

Yesterday when I was at the hospital to see some admissions - we were talking Sunday afternoons here - I noticed that there was a big crane at the Doctor's car park.

The business end of the crane was reaching the fifth floor of the South Tower building to peel away the old Sime Darby Healthcare sign and presumably install a new one.

The old sign as it wereThe hospital was now being renamed Subang Jaya Medical Center like the good old days. The parent company was now called Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare Group. A new beginning hopefully. And not new name and new game ....

Post Call

Finally I managed to have some shut eye after a hectic night on call. The call started out well enough but the five admissions after midnight did it for me. Went back to the apartment at around 3, and my sleep then was interrupted a few times.

I woke up groggily this morning, did my ward rounds, finished my clinic and after lunch, I decided to have a doze in the Doctor's mess. Success! Now, for the afternoon clinic.

Not So Early

After sorting out my clinic and ward patient early this afternoon, I prepared to head home at just after 4 to check on Idlan. A quick look at the exit, and I knew I would be delayed. I then took my time, got a drink and check on some results before setting off. The traffic eased off soon after, but while it lasted, it was pretty bad.

Right round the corner is the private school, Sri KL. the students ended their school hour just after 3, and the whole place would be packed during that time. Traffic both in and out of SDMC would be bad while the students cleared the place. Time to avoid the area at that time.
