Capturing the Kolam

On Facebook, one of my friend had a whale of a time capturing Kolam around Bukit Bintang. These are etchings, or patterns created on the floor using chalk or more intricately coloured rice. They range from small ones at home to extravagant ones at shopping malls. The Hindus celebrating Deepavali next week, and around the malls in town, plenty were on display.

As I was with my boys and Anita, I did not have much time to explore. But the pattern at the Bukit Bintang entrance of Pavilion was spectacular. I heard that the one on the main lobby of Berjaya Times Square was also worth a visit.

A smaller one at Suria KLCCColourful and very elaborate, I wonder how long it take to get one done. Like dominoes, messing them up surely would not take much effort …..

The Photowalk Slides

Apparently according to Ripi, the heaven opened the moment I left. But it looked like he had fun shooting still. Plenty of subjects around Bukit Bintang after we split.

Anyhow, below were the sideshow from the walk earlier .....

Walkabout Time

It has been a while since I managed to chill out with a camera in the company of a fellow photographer. An impromptu meet with Ripi this afternoon sorted that. In the last month, I had missed the Scott Kelby Photowalk, as well as other events for one reason or another. Rate opportunity indeed.

We met up at Pavilion, had lunch, and off exploring the area towards Bukit Bintang. I also took the time to do my survey for the Society laptop I was meant to do a couple I weeks back. Now, it was done ....

It was a really nice day weather wise. Too warm at times, especially in open spaces. We therefore spent most of the time indoors. If given more time, we would have ventured towards Jalan Nagasari. There would be plenty of photo op around there.

Anyhow, by the time w doubled back to Pavilion, it was getting dark again. Looked like KL would be hit by afternoon rain as it had been lately. A few more snaps, then a quick drink at Starbucks before I had to call it a day. I had to take Anita out for groceries.

I shall post the photos from the wall later after some post-processing of course.

Sunday Stroll

It was an unexpected free Sunday afternoon. I was meant to be on call, but due to a last minute swap, I was on call on Friday instead. And it was a busy one. It took me the whole morning to sort out the patients, and after taking Irfan out for his treat during lunch, I had the whole afternoon to myself.

So, I took a stroll to Low Yat to get myself more memory cards for the upcoming trip to Fraser's Hill. As expected, the place was full and traffic was bad. I instead parked at KLCC and took the covered walkway all the way to Pavilion. A nice relaxing stroll, stopping at a couple of cafe for snacks. It looked like Samsung was pushing the Galaxy S III as there we're promotions everywhere around Bukit Bintang. To e honest, I was not really sure if I could trust the dealers there as some of the unit I suspect were not for the local market. The warranty may not be honored.

Making my way across from KLCC to Pavilion and then Low YatArrived at the fountain and crossing acrossHALT!That is a curious one. Fried steak!Every road lead to Bukit BintangIn front of PavilionI guess they do this every Sunday afternoon maybe .....The Sandisk memory card at Low Yat was much cheaper than the one I bought in Bangsar the other day. For the same price, I got a faster unit instead. Other things I looked at was the new retina display MacBook Pro. There we units on display, but if you wanted to buy it, one had to put an order in as they were mostly about a couple of weeks away. Size-wise, it would be a drag to carry one around as I was so used to my 11-inch Mac Air.

More X100 Loveliness

All the photographs were taken around Pavilion and Sungai Wang, right after I got hold of the camera. I must say that I was still not familiar with the real potential of the device. The main write-up is here.
