Dash to Subang

After sorting my Mum, and the small matter of lunch, I made my way across to Subang. And before long, Shahril, Amin and Azida arrived to visit Anita. Great company.

After they left, the boys arrived. And they were really curious about the drain coming out of Anita's tummy after the operation. Initially worried, but when they saw that there wasn't any blood, they didn't mind.

Before long, they were hopping onto the bed already. By this time, Anita had finished her dinner and the tummy pain was getting less. The fever was virtually gone right after the operation was done. Although at times, she was still having spasm, she was OK. She was more worried about the kids than anything else.

As for me, I'm having a quick early dinner while waiting for the phone call from aunt who was travelling from Sungai Petani. I would be picking her up at the bus station later.

Rehab Starts

I managed to actually get about 5 hours of continuous sleep before being woken hobby a phone call asking if paracetamol could be served to one of my inpatient. Felt refreshed when I woke up, and hopefully both of the important women in my life would be feeling as good as I would at the moment.

I don't be able to visit my Mum until I sorted out my morning situation, with clinics, ward rounds and Anita in the ward. I would be heading to see her as soon as I finished with Subang. She might start be mobilised today, and hopefully it won't be long before she's discharged.

There would need to be some modification at her place in Bukit Antarabangsa as I wasn't very keen about her tolerating stairs in her current state. I maybe have to bring down one if the bed down. I got her the bed when she had her operations in 2008. We would put that by the living room, so that it would be easy for visitors to come and see her.

So, plenty to be done today, but at least it was less of the feeling of worry, concern and anxiety that I had to carry with me before this. InsyaAllah, things would het better.

The Waiting Game

Surgery was finally scheduled for around 7 pm and as expected, Puan Anita was worried. But she started having fever, and the tummy pain was starting to bother her, so it was easy enough for me to justify going for the surgery to her.

We elected to go the keyhold route - laparoscopy. Hopefully, the pain would be a lot less and the recovery faster. She was fast asleep as I was writing this. The surgeon just been to see her, and yes, the tummy pain was worse than earlier today.

I've already informed the family and we would be waiting for an opening on the emergency list. The anaesthetist would be the same lady who put Irfan under last year. In fact, when Irfan was around earlier, she came over to tall to Irfan. He just shied away.

So, let's wait then.....

The Morning After

The first order of business for the day was to drop by Ampang Puteri to check in my Mum. Alhamdulillah the vessel had opened up nicely and the ECG looks much better although still her blood pressure was a bit in the low side with the occasional abnormal heart rhythm. But this was expected after what happened to her yesterday afternoon. And she was back to her old self, talking and chatting away.

Julia told her about what happened to Anita and she kept asking about her daughter-in-law. Told her about what happened and that we would be waiting to see what the scan showed.

After half and hour or so, the Cardiologist dropped by and was happy with Mum's progress. He was already making plans about home. But not after spending another night at the ICU from the looks of things.

So, off to Subang next. Anita was due to have a CT scan later that morning. This more or less pointed towards appendicitis. One of my Surgeon colleague then dropped by and would schedule Anita to have the surgery later in the day. We were still waiting for the confirmation while I escaped to have a quick lunch next door. The boys were with Anita at the moment, causing havoc of course. Anita insisted on seeing her boys before going for surgery.

Will keep all updated with the progress later.

Morning Meeting

An early start to the morning and instead of Subang, I would start my day at Ara Damansara for a quick - hopefully - meeting. Transfusion meeting, held every six months there.

Then it would be Subang for my ward rounds before heading out to ParkCity for my morning clinic. Quick lunch, and then back to Subang for the afternoon clinic. Now, that would be a long day ......
