Funky Ride

Parked right next to me at the Doctor's area was this rather funky looking Range Rover. A quick look at the number plate revealed that it was at least 25 years-old. The chassis was relatively well-maintained.

But I doubt that it has WiFi on board though ....... I have yet to test it. Maybe I'll try it next time.

Gong Xi Fa Cai

Hope everybody was having a nice time with their friends and family. As for me, I would be doing a couple of calls during this festivities, and hoping that the days would pass on nice and quiet.

To all my friends celebrating, Gong Xi Fa Cai. I will be manning the fort as it were, grumpily .....

Being Driven Around

As soon as I reached home after the morning ward round, Anita told me that we had to head to the apartment as a prospective buyer wanted to have a look at it. On a Sunday? But well. Our lease will be up next month, and we were waiting to move into a new place on the same block. That would be next month as well.

I thought of just having a sleep rather than follow her along, but she insisted. Luckily, she also asked the family driver to take us along. So, at least I get to nap in the van and not have to worry about driving. Good thing, as I could ask to be drop for my Sunday afternoon post-take rounds as well.

Call last night was busier than I anticipated. As it was raining in the evening, I thought admission would stop coming. But I was wrong. A couple of sick ones as well.

Just finished my rounds and being driven home. Would stop for tandoori take-out as well as United would be playing Liverpool tonight. Big match. Hopefully I could stay awake for that .......

Glorious Morning

It was one of those smooth morning when the traffic was light and I was bathed in glorious sunshine. I arrived at the clinic early after sorting out the ward - managed to discharge most of my admission from the recent call.

And again, the sun was glorious. Made me sad that I had to work ….. but at least I got next week to look forward to when I had a trip planned for the boys and Anita down south ….

SDMC Desa ParkCity

A bit of corporate info, Sime Darby Healthcare had a couple of outlets when I joined - the famed SDMC Subang Jaya and the day hospital Sime Darby Specialist Center at Taman Megah. Since then SDMC Ara Damansara was opened earlier this year, and on 12.12.12 SDMC Desa ParkCity had its soft launch.

I do Haematology consults at Ara Damansara as well as was involved with the blood bank service there, but I do not have any clinics running there. On the other hand, I would have a couple of clinics at Desa ParkCity every week, increasing to three as I go along. So, this afternoon, I visited the new hospital - well, more like sneaked in. The Security fella was kind enough to show me around the place after I showed my ID. The ER was still quiet but the Medical wards had been opened for the last couple of weeks. The lobby was still empty and the signage has yet to be put up.

The carpark was on a separate building connected via a couple of bridges. The Emergency Room was directly connected to the operating theatre for emergency surgery. The corridor was wider, and security was via ID card to open doors. But signage as I mentioned was still missing.

On the first floor where the outpatient clinics were located, the Paediatric Clinic opened out into an open-air play area. My boys had tried the swings there before I could say anything. The cafeteria was still closed, so those patients admitted so far might be struggling to get food other than hospital meals.

Entrance to the outpatient clinicIrfan exploring the play area by the Paediatrics outpatientYup! It was all tested by the boys! LULUS!Only a couple of wards were opened thus farI will try the results system and the clinic in the coming months. I was sure that there would be problems at the beginning, and there would be some time for me to get used to things. Driving there was still a nightmare, and the traffic from Subang was heavy despite this being Sunday afternoon. Time to brace myself ..... But at least the neighbourhood looked nice and green.
