Off to Tasik Perdana

It was a workday afternoon and as I didn't have a clinic afternoon clinic that day, I managed to leave the hospital early. Idlan had tuition in Melawati, so I was alone at home. Time to get my drones out then.

Again, I wanted to keep things quick and simple, I went to Tasik Perdana this time. I arrived there at around 6 but the light was not right. I had some ice-cream and waited until 6.30, got the gear out and started flying.

Trying to get a feel of the place ...The KL skylineGoing to the edge of the lakeIt was overcast but the light was good enough. I flew from one end of the park to another. I also tried out the 4K video for this outing. It took me longer at post-processing to get the footage out, but in terms of quality, it was definitely better. But since I couldn't play the footage at such high resolution with my 4K TV, I wasn't sure if it was worth it.

But the photos I managed to snap from this outing was definitely worth the trouble. By the end of the flight, I was gaining confidence on what I can do with the drones as well as appreciating its limitation. Again, both the snaps and video footage exceeded my expectations. But I must do some more training on how to use the Final Cut Pro ....

Awal Muharram Outing

After the series of public holidays and weekends spoilt by having to be on call, Awal Muharram couldn't come early enough for me. As soon as I finished my morning rounds, I had an early lunch and took an afternoon nap until around three. Form the last four days, I hardly had any uninterrupted sleep due ton phone calls and emergency.

As soon as I woke up, I got the boys packed up, and we headed out to Tasik Perdana for a walk in the park. Boy, how much I needed that!

First stop was the Lake Garden itself. Got then car parked, and we strolled ton the playground, running on the grass before again, it got dark! Afternoon rain again in KL. The heaven held for another 20 minutes or so, enough for the boys to burn some sugar.

When it finally rained, we were already inside then car, headed to Hornbill Restaurant - at Bird Park - where both Idlan and Irfan had their birthday parties before. We had some tea there while waiting for the rain to pass by. It was just around 5.30 when we left the restaurant and bought the ticket to enter the park.

We didn't venture far, but spent most of the time feeding the birds and fishes. A couple of years ago, part of the park was closed for renovation. They were building a pavilion with a koi pond in the middle of it. I was there before but, minus the boys, so they were excited when they had the chance to feed the fishes. It helped that it was late on the afternoon and there were hardly that many people inside the park at the time. No need to jostle to buy the animal feed and to stroll around.

By the time we were done, it was almost closing time. The animal food were sold on vending machines but that day, none of the machine were in order. This was mainly due to the coin slot getting stuck with small change. Luckily, there were kiosk selling the food instead, but certainly for a premier park, they should look into the maintenance side a bit more closely. Not to mention that bit cost a bomb to get in, especially for foreigners. Luckily, we did not bring our maid along. Her entrance fee might be more than the four of us combined!

Great day out I thought. By then time we left Task Perdana, we were starving and had to look around for food. Luckily we were staying at the apartment, and there were plenty of eatery around Bangsar.

Run Out

No proper Sunday afternoon should go without taking the kids out, and heavy rain with nowhere to take them to. Well, that was what happened yesterday. So much for a Sunday afternoon eh?

Idlan has exams coming up tomorrow, and we wanted him to go out for some fresh air. Initially we set out to Pavilion for lunch, but it was packed. I was not able to get a parking spot. We turned back. And headed out to Solaris instead.

Lunch was at B.I.G. A nice simple one. But as long as we had pizza, we were OK. Pizza and salad. And hot coffee. Anita and myself had our lunch earlier.

By the time lunch was done, the rain subsided. A quick rush to Tasik Perdana and off we set out to the park. It only lasted about 20 minutes before the sky turned dark again. We made it back to the van just in time before it started pouring again. But the 20 minutes might just be enough as the place was empty. They had the chance to play with the swings and things. No need to wait for anything.

So, we reached home by about 5. The day was still early but decided to turn in early with the exams on Monday. Went to bed extra early and when I got up this morning at 6, the boys were already waking up. A good start for the week. Happy Monday all.

KL Butterfly Park

After my walkabout around Bukit Bintang, I took my 7D for a spin. Truth be told, it probably needed some dusting off! Destination - KL Butterfly Garden. I was praying for the weather to hold. It did become overcast, but I had a window of about 45 minutes to snap away.

The place was full with tourist, as well as a few locals such as myself lugging around their DSLR, complete with monopods and flash. I only brought my macro lens. Maybe if I have some extra money in the next couple of months, I would buy myself an extension tube. That will make macro photography more fun!

Tasik Perdana Again

It has been a long week, hence a certain lack of update in my blog. Those who follow me on twitter will however remember about both my boys, Irfan and Idlan, so was Puan Anita being ill earlier in the week. Irfan got ill initially, then passing it on to Idlan. Idlan needed to go on antibiotics due to high fever. Alhamdulillah, both of them were fine now. Yesterday, they became restless at home. I decided to take them out in the park.

The park was currently undergoing renovation. The pathways were being dug and the tiles were replaced. New trees were planted and old ones were trimmed. It was a nice day, albeit cloudy. Nice for a walk in the park without being too warm. Due to the renovation as well, some of the car park spot were closed. We parked further down the road, an area unfamiliar to the kids. So walking up were rather exciting for them. Irfan wanted to see the herbal garden. But after a few snaps, the pull of the playground was a bit too much. He can’t resist no more.

We spent more than an hour there, until it started to darken out and drizzle. We managed to get into the car just in time. Next, it was time for early dinner. We set off for Japanese in KLCC. More on that later …….
